Week 5 Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

Laudato Si' (“Praise Be to You") "On care for our common home".

At this  Friday's assembly, the Year 5/6GT students will focus on spreading the Pope's message of caring for the Earth by focusing on Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato SI (On Care for our Common Home).

In Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’-- “On Care for our Common Home”, he calls for humanity to recognise the need for changes in lifestyle, production and consumption, and acknowledge the ways we may be harming ourselves, each other and the Earth. He is calling us to be people of action.

Laudato Si’ has provided us with practical tips we can begin within our homes, for example: avoiding plastic and paper, limiting water consumption, separating our rubbish, cooking only what can reasonably be consumed, showing care for other living beings, using public transport or car-pooling, planting trees, turning off unnecessary lights and reusing something before discarding it.

Simple steps don’t you think?

As people of Faith and Goodwill, let's respond to the Year 5/6s call to action.

Prayers for Families and Children at Exford Primary School

Please keep the families and children of Exford Primary School in our prayers as the community comes to terms with the tragedy of last week's bus crash. On behalf of the St Fidelis Community, I have sent some flowers and offers of support.

Celebration of Learning

Wednesday May 31st: 3:30pm-4:30pm and Thursday June 1st: 8:30am-9:15am

At St Fidelis, we have a number of regular ways we communicate the students’ learning within our school community. We encourage informal and formal communication between staff, parents and students to maintain our sense of community to help any concerns that may arise to be quickly resolved, and to celebrate our successes.

An open afternoon will be held on Wednesday, May 31st -3:30 pm-4:30 pm and Thursday morning 8:30 am-9:15 am. This event gives parents, carers, teachers and students the opportunity to visit classrooms and chat with their children about the learning they have done this term.  Please make the time to listen to your child as they are so proud to share their learning with an adult, especially with their parents.

Walk To School Day

Thank you to everyone that participated in the Walk To School Day last Friday. This was a great day to emphasize the importance of how exercise and health can support both our Mental and Physical well-being.

A special thank you to Ms Gasbarro and our Community School Leaders who did an amazing job with the set-up and serving of our breakfast cereals.

Thank you to THEIRCARE for their generous donation of milk and cereals and assisting us with this event.

A special thank you to Jimmy Joson (Father of Jeevan and Isabella) who once again donated delicious fresh fruit for all the children. We are very fortunate to have such generous families.
