Middle School

SunSmart Schools

Students are in school when daily ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels are at their peak, meaning schools are uniquely placed to educate about sun protection behaviour, minimise UVR exposure and ultimately reduce a student’s lifetime risk of skin cancer.

Students are required to wear an appropriate school hat, as stated in the CSC Uniform policy - 'Hat broad brimmed – navy'. Please visit the Cobram Secondary College SunSmart Policy requirements located on our website for further information.

Year 8 Focus Day

On Monday 10th of September, the Year 8 students took part in their focus day – diversity and inclusiveness. Their sessions incorporated guest speakers, classroom activities and sporting activities. The students heard about the challenges faced by those who are culturally diverse, gender diverse and those who experience bullying due to any difference from what it is seen to be the “norm”.

The feedback was fabulous, the students have a desire to learn further about learning difficulties and personality types. They asked insightful questions as to how they can assist their peers who find learning difficult and what they can do to make people feel like they belong.

Mathematics Growth in the Middle Years

We are very proud to again congratulate the following students on their incredible growth in Mathematics since Term 2. These students have been dedicated to their studies and challenged themselves to achieve the best results possible. Their average growth rate of 191% equates to at least 1.5 years of learning in Mathematics thus far this year. Well done everyone.

Middle Years writing for the Cobram Show

Welcome to Mr Hendry!

Welcome to Mr Hendry, for the remainder of the term. Mr Hendry will  be the Year 8 Coordinator and will be located in the Middle School Office.

Thank you to Mr Glass and Ms Sattler for their time with the Middle School Team. Mr Hendry will have a formal assembly with the Year 8 students in the near future.

Buroinjin Challenge

Students participated in traditional Indigenous games that developed both physical and mental skills. The students competed against other schools that train all year with tactics, ‘plays’ and a strong understanding of the game. Our students were commended multiple times for their sportsmanship, patience and desire to develop their skills. Whilst sitting and watching the grand final our students were found cheering overtly for another Shepparton team that they had valued as competitors earlier in the day. Such an event really highlights how wonderful the students represent our school and absorb the environment that they are provided. Well done for your professionalism ‘Buroinjin Athletes’… until next year… stay deadly!

Can I please thank the following students:

Liam Collie- Managing a team across 5 events

Ben Mahoney- Managing the Senior Team

Mazz Post and Cass Mossman- Setting up teams, assisting with organising the event.

Anne-Marie Hindle- Supervision

Writing4Fun Competition

In Term One, two of our Year 7 students entered the Write4Fun Writing competition. Both Miranda Eddy and Ebony McIntosh entered their own poetry. In recognition of their excellent entries the girls received the opportunity to have their poems published in this year’s showcase of entries. The book called ‘Horizon of Dreams’ was published and copies sent to both Miranda and Ebony. We are so impressed with the girls work and dedication to their writing. Being published in this book is just another way to recognise their fantastic work. Congratulations to both girls.
