Positive Climate for Learning

5-6 Learning Community

We are thrilled to announce that throughout Term 4, the  5-6 Learning Community will be selling icy poles at the canteen.

The icy pole canteen, which will be completely hosted by our wonderful 5-6 students, will be open for 15 minutes during both recess and lunch. This rich learning experience will allow our students to apply their knowledge from our maths unit on ‘money’ in a practical, real life setting. The data collected from sales will also be used in our lessons.  The profit accumulated will be used to help fund our Chemical Science activities in the lead up to Christmas (includes science in the kitchen as well as gift making).

A portion of the funds collected will also be donated to a charity of choice – yet to be decided by our students.

Containers will be provided for students to recycle their icy poles sticks, where they will then be reused by our 5/6 students for various activities during STEM lessons.

Please be aware that these treats will be water based and fruit flavoured and supplied by our local community Woolworths, who have generously offered to donate the first 300 icy poles!

The cost to the students will be $1.

We will encourage students to purchase a maximum of one icy pole per day and that buying for friends is not possible.  Please send your child to school with coins only and get them to keep it in their lunch box for safe keeping.

This all begins on Monday 21st October and will go for the whole term.

Stay cool everyone!
