Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Werribee Zoo Excursion - Preps

Yesterday, our very excited group of Prep students attended their first school excursion to Werribee Zoo. Rugged up in our raincoats, we enjoyed a fantastic day out where we learned all about different animals and their habitats.

During the day, the students participated in an educational session called ‘Habitat Heroes’, went for a safari ride on the open-air bus and walked around the zoo to see many interesting animals such as lions, wild dogs, a cheetah and a gorilla! One group was even lucky enough to see the lion’s being fed which was really exciting.

All of the students must be commended on setting such a wonderful example for our school. They all consistently demonstrated our core values of Care, Collaboration and Commitment throughout the whole day.

A big thank you as well to our fantastic staff and parent helpers who kindly gave up their time to support this excursion. Your help was sincerely appreciated!

We now look forward to immersing our students in learning all about ‘living things’ as we embark on our new unit of Inquiry this term.

Geelong Cup Public Holiday

A reminder that Wednesday 23 October is a Public Holiday for Geelong Cup  and students are not required at school.

Congratulations!

A huge congratulations to one of our Prep teachers, Didi, who graduated from Deakin University with a Masters of Special Education over the holidays.

This is an amazing achievement and we are very proud to have Didi as part of the team at ACS.

Geelong Show

The Geelong Show is open this weekend (Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 October) and our very creative students have been able to display some of their amazing artwork.

Congratulations to all our talented Artists who were awarded 2nd Prize in the Primary School (over 200 students) category. A fantastic achievement in our first year of entering!

Big thanks to Leanne our wonderful art teacher for your guidance of our budding artists.

Head to the Geelong Show this weekend to see the ACS display.

Geelong Animal Rescue Donation Bin

ACS is supporting GAR again this term by holding a Donation Bin at school for the first 4 weeks of term.  All donations of pet food, blankets, collars, leads, beds etc would be gratefully accepted during this time.

All donations to be bought into the school office by

Friday 1st November, 2019.

"GAR is a 100% volunteer run organisation, relying on our community to help us rescue and re-home our animals. Through the placement of these Donation Bins we are able to provide food and supplies (beds, leads/collars etc) to our foster animals awaiting their forever homes."

Day for Daniel - Friday 25 October

'Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest national day of action to raise awareness of child safety, protection and prevention. It is held on the last Friday of October every year and honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe. Parents, carers and educators are asked to continue the conversation with children and young people about personal safety. There are lots of other ways you can make Australia a safer place!'

We encourage all students and staff to wear red on Friday 25 October in support of Day for Daniel. No gold coin donation required.

School Hats

A reminder that students must wear a hat at recess and lunch play during Term 4.
