In the classroom

Term 2 is well and truly underway and the students are settling into the routines of the classroom after the holidays.  While the weather outside the classroom is looking a little bleak, the classroom has been full of energy.  Last Friday the students ventured off to Federation Square in Melbourne to see their term 1 Art Project played on the big screen in front of hundreds of people as part of the Independent Schools Victoria Arts Festival.  This was great recognition for Ms. Sarah and the students.  This week the students began the next exciting Art Project in partnership with Monash University.

Over the coming weeks the teaching program will allow students to make strong connections  with their learning via visits to Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Simpson Barracks, video and photo editing workshops and Book Club which is supporting readers at all levels.  It is a pretty exciting time in the classroom, but then again there are not too many weeks that are not action packed.

In Wellbeing lessons students have been learning about the concept of growth mindset versus fixed mindset and the importance of choosing a growth mindset to allow their learning to thrive.  Mr. Brady has provided the students with some great examples of people with growth mindsets and how this has allowed them to be successful in a range of pursuits.  It has been been a great message and the students have enthusiastically grasped the concept.

Finally, congratulations to Ruby and Bruce who have been voted in as our term 2 MITS Captains and thank you to Antwun and Moniquah for doing such a fine job in term 1.

Happy Mothers Day!
