Term 2 is always a time of great celebration for our MITS community.  Dreamtime at the ‘G – which this year will take place on Saturday 25 May – celebrates the remarkable contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to the game that many know as Marn Grook.  For our students, it’s a chance to celebrate the relationships that they have formed with the players and staff at the Richmond Football Club and the many ways in which they contribute to and enrich the club environment.

National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) celebrates the coming together of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people across Australia.  Nowhere is this demonstrated more vividly than at MITS – where our students come to learn in Melbourne and in doing so share of themselves and their wonderful cultures with the people they meet across the city.

And this year, I would like to celebrate our students and families as they commenced Term 2.  Every one of our 22 students arrived back in Melbourne on Day One, ready for the new school term.  This is no mean feat!  Leaving home, country and (for our NT students) the emerging early days of the dry season for cold and rainy Melbourne takes great strength and courage.  I think it’s something worth celebrating!

I hope you enjoy this week’s newsletter, and look forward to sharing this Term of celebration with you.
