Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all our mums, nans and special ladies who were able to attend our Mother's Day Breakfast last Thursday. It was such a lovely morning to share with you all in a small way of saying thanks for all you do! I hope you were all able to relax and spend time with loved ones on Sunday.

As mentioned last week, our Goals for Living and Learning Well at Sacred Heart were officially launched. Our new Totem Poles at the front of the school look fantastic and add a visual reminder for us about each of our three themes; We are Respected, We are Learners, We are Safe. The Term 2 theme is We are Respected and each week we unpack a Core Value at our Monday morning assembly to remind us of the actions and behaviors to uphold in reaching our goals. 

This week's Core Value is Show Pride in Self and School. Please click the attachment for the student's responses from this morning's assembly.

Students in Year 3 and Year 5 will begin their NAPLAN Online assessments this week. The NAPLAN assessments provide us with a snapshot of student achievement at a particular point in time and, like any assessment at school, provide us with data to inform the next steps in our teaching practice. There is nothing students or families need to do in preparing for NAPLAN, other than providing a good night's sleep the night before and a healthy breakfast the morning of each assessment. The two  week schedule for assessments is;

Tuesday 11 May - Writing 

Wednesday 12 May - Reading

Monday 17 May - Conventions of Language

Tuesday 18 May - Numeracy.

There will be opportunities for students to complete catch-up assessments if they are away on any of these days. 

I am away from school on Thursday and Friday this week to attend the Term 2 Principal's Meeting in Tamworth. Mrs Fenton will take the lead of the school in my absence.

A special mention to Mrs Katie Goddard who celebrates her 21st birthday on today 10th May.  We hope you enjoy your special day!
