Wellbeing

Investing in those we care about.

Intentionally connecting with those we care about helps to nurture those special relationships. Investing into our relationships strengthens them. We can show we care by doing little everyday things, as well as planning for the occasional bigger events or activities.

You may already be doing some of these everyday things. Some ideas I had of ways to make that special someone the focus of your attention are:

1. Stopping everything you’re doing, sitting down and giving them your undivided attention for a few minutes every day.

2. Remembering to acknowledge the things they do for you or for the family.

3. Surprising them by doing something different to the usual routine such                                      as:

(a) Suggesting an outing

(b) Going for a walk together

(c) Offering to assist with something that is challenging for them

(d) Presenting them with a posy of flowers

(e) Making their favourite food.

You may also be doing some of these occasional bigger events and activities as well.

Some ideas I had are:

1. A shopping trip.

2. A visit to a live show or to the cinema.

3. A day trip to the zoo, museum, beach or the bush.

4. A camping or fishing trip.

These bigger events or activities don’t need to be complicated or expensive. The planning process provides an opportunity to build anticipation. Allowing others to have input builds up their confidence. Keeping a written and photographic record ensures it can be revisited anytime someone want to.

It is my hope that these special intentional moments, activities or events will bring joy and long-lasting connection to you and your special people.
