Year 12 Retreat

Students recently attended Year 12 Retreat at Warrambui. The theme of the Retreat is inspired from Saint Ignatious of Loyola, “Go Forth and Set the World on Fire”.

See some student reflections below:

“Highlights of the Retreat for me were the affirmation writing; where everyone received kind, heartwarming notes from other members of our cohort, even from people we don’t regularly speak to. The campfire was another highlight; the amazing performances by our captains, the breakie boiz (the fourth boy band in the world), some beautiful poetry from Rachael and Georgia, and the amazing ventriloquist from the Eady twins, with the assistance of Mrs Cramp and Mr Ryan." Michaela Spry

“For me, my favourite part of the Retreat was being able to dance and sing with my year level. With the wonderful voice of Chris Doyle leading the way, it was amazing to see so many of my peers getting up to have a sing, avoiding the legendary WAP at all costs.

The party was another favourite part of the Retreat, the theme ‘Through The Ages’ allowed for the amazing costumes from each group to dress in different and amazingly funny costumes. Along with mostly bad singing, we were blessed by the impressive voices of Sashini, Millie, Zoe and of course Mr Irvine. Our top dog champ Corban Cotterill, left us dumbfounded with his surprisingly impressive bottom muscles, slotting the coin in first go every time, whilst crowd favourite Mitch Hardman entertained us all with his aggressive balloon popping skills. Our overall winning team led by Ms Fraser were ‘Get Ruthied’.” Tilly McCrone

“For me and the rest of Year 12, the Retreat was such an enjoyable experience. I truly believe that it allowed every individual to be themselves and develop relationships with peers and staff that they never knew was possible. It was so amazing to see most people truly embrace the experience in so many ways. Whether it was through laughter, dancing, hugs, tears, sharing talents or just spending time to step back and reflect. We’d like to thank the staff that gave a considerable amount of their time to enable us to have this unforgettable experience.” Amy Leddin

We Remember Illaria Donebus

We remember much loved past student Illaria Donebus. Illaria’s family and friends are invited together to honour and remember the many gifts that Illaria shared with us. We will be holding a memorial prayer service next Tuesday 15 June in the Peace Garden at 8.50am. We as a community, will forever have Illaria in our hearts and always be inspired by her many wonderful qualities including strength, determination, humour, grace and unconditional love.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Illaria’s family.

NEAA Student Leaders Forum

In Week 7, Year 11 Students took part in a Senior Student Leader Forum through NEAA (Nagle Education Alliance Australia). Students spoke of the different social justice initiatives that our College is involved in, linking to the work of Nano Nagle and the Presentation Sisters. Students listened to other leaders from schools across Australia and received advice and inspiration. We thank NEAA for providing this leadership opportunity for our students.

2021 Vinnies Winter Appeal

This year we will be participating in a House Challenge. Each House will be responsible for donating a particular item, new or in good condition. If House Leaders and Executive are happy with the donations given by each House, a staff member selected from each House will have to dress up in a costume designed by the SRC for an entire school day. Staff nominated for the dress up can be found on the Vinnies Winter Appeal Poster below.

Items fundraised from each house:

  • Carroll House:          Beanies
  • Kennedy House:      Blankets
  • Rosarie House:        Scarves
  • Sherrin House:         Jumpers/Jackets
  • Webber House:        Socks/Gloves

Even though Houses have this particular focus, families can still donate an item from another area if you have something in good condition at home. All donations are to be brought into the College office. Let’s do our part to ensure that families in our community do not go without this winter. Donations will be collected until the end of this term.
