The Power of Positive Emotions

I had the pleasure on Wednesday to have a session with 4SE with a focus on positive emotions and how they impact our mental and physical health.  The students were amazing and we had great discussions on how to find joy in our lives.   Here are some of their happy news stories about experiencing joy.

Positive emotions broaden our opportunities to participate in activities. Positive emotions leave us free to be creative, playful, curious, and experimental.  From these behaviors there are opportunities to have new physical, social, and intellectual experiences.

Ways to build positive emotions:

Some simple research proven ways we can help our children and ourselves build positive emotions are through the practicing the following

Gratitude: Allows us to focus on the positives in our lives - can break negative thought cycles when used everyday.

Identify:What are you grateful for?

Acknowledge :Why are you grateful?

Act:How do you express your gratitude?

Simple acts of Kindness: Is proven to not only build positive emotions in the receiver but also the giver.

Play: Allowing children time to play and explore flow through play is a great way to build positive emotions, build social connections and develop problem solving skills.

Wellbeing Wednesday - Yoga with Frank

We had an amazing yoga and mindfulness session on Wednesday afternoon with Frank.  He took us through his Ripple, Rumble, Rock, Roar Yoga session which saw us perfecting our Yoga moves and sending out positive vibes into our homes, school, community, state, country and universe.  It was lots of fun and we had over 40 families join in with the session.

We will run another session next Wednesday 9 June at 2pm and it would be great to see virtually, see the Zoom link below.
