PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS MICHELLE HAEUSLER

Over the past two weeks we have had around 140 Grade 6 students visit our school to participate in transition activities to help them as they move from Grade 6 to Year 7.  It has been wonderful to engage with the Grade 6 students, watching them participate in activities and listening to their questions.  Congratulations to Mr Hirst on planning these very important days.

Starting on Sunday 23rd May is Catholic Education Week in the Ballarat Diocese.  This year’s theme is “Faith in the Future”.  Hearing the questions and talking to the Grade 6 students and engaging with students here at our school, I have so much ‘faith in the future’, as our students aspire to great things.

During Catholic Education Week we always hold our College Open Day, Subject Expo and Information night.  This year this event will be held on Wednesday 26th May.  It is a wonderful day to visit our school and see our facilities.  The Subject Expo provides a space for students and parents/guardians to ask questions and find out more about subjects beyond Year 8, and the information sessions provide specific information to each of the age groups, Year 7 2022, Year 9 and 10 2022 and Year 11 and 12 2022.  See more information in regard to sessions in this newsletter. You can also contact Mr Nathan Lane, Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning for more information.

Recently our VET Hospitality students catered morning tea in our Orchard restaurant for a local community group.  This was some wonderful feedback that we received:

“Last week my wife and I were part of a Probus group that had morning tea at the Orchard room. On a daily basis I have walked past the Orchard thinking of nothing that went on inside. The morning tea was the first time we ever entered. We were literally blown away. The setting and the attention given to us by the students was superb. As for the cakes and pastries, they were literally world class. Please convey the thanks of my wife and myself to all involved in this wonderful event.”

Well done to Mrs McCallum, Dave Daly and the VET Hospitality students on providing a wonderful experience.

Our students had the opportunity to participate in Winter Sports last week.  Reports from all coaches were that our students performed in a manner that demonstrated pride in their school as well as setting a great example of excellent sportsman/womanship.  Well done to all involved, especially Mr Joyce on all of his coordination.

Enrolment Applications are now open for Year 7 2022.  Please note that the closing date for applications is Monday 12th July.
