ICAS Assessments

We are delighted to inform you that St Joseph’s Primary School Wee Waa will be participating in ICAS Assessments this year. ICAS is developed by UNSW Global, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UNSW Sydney, with over 35 years of experience in educational assessments.

ICAS is designed to target students’ thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Spelling, and Digital Technologies.

Each assessment celebrates students’ (2-6) accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition. Every student will receive a printed certificate and an online result report. Top performers will be eligible for medals and are invited to attend special award ceremonies to have their academic excellence publicly recognised.

We encourage you to consider entering your child into ICAS this year. The assessments are suitable for students wishing to extend themselves academically and take up the personal challenge of competing in an international assessment. Your child will be presented with high-quality, expert-developed questions, allowing them to apply their learning without the need for prior study or revision.

Assessments will take place from Monday 9 August to Friday 3 September. Individual and finalised sitting dates will be communicated later in the year.

Cost per test: $17.05 (inc. GST)

If you would like your child to participate in any of the subjects listed above, please visit the online Parent Payment System to make a direct payment to UNSW Global.

2021 Lake Keepit Excursion

Dear Parents and Carers of Stage 2 students,

This year, students in Stage 2 are having their overnight excursion to the Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre from Wednesday 6 to Friday 8 October.

The excursion will provide children with the opportunity to participate in an outdoor education program, which includes a variety of safe, fun and challenging activities. It also aims to develop social skills, independence, physical activity and promote healthy lifestyles. All activities are coordinated by the qualified, experienced staff of the Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre.

A Parent Information Night will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday 4 July in the Stage 2 classroom. We look forward to your attendance on this night.

For further information, and to accept or deny attendance, access the Events page via your child’s profile on the Compass app, or, alternatively, go to https://stjosephsweewaa-nsw.compass.education/Organise/Activities/Events/ by Thursday 24 June.

Sport and Recreation also requires a Medical and Consent form to be submitted on behalf of your child. It asks for information regarding medication conditions, food related allergies, special diets, medication, emergency contact details and media consent. A link to this form will be communicated via Compass later in the term.

Please note that the cost of this excursion was included in your child’s annual school fees.
