Year 10 Food Technology- Food Trends Practical Design Task

Year 10 Food Technology students are currently studying “Food Trends” and have been investigating food cultures from around the world and 2021 food trends such as organic and ethical foods, veganism, coffee culture, street food, food trucks etc.

They were required to devise a creative design brief based on specifications and a design problem. They created a design plan, produced and evaluated the food item. There was a great deal of enthusiasm and they cooked a range of recipes based on various themes and cultures such as American food truck- corn dogs, fusion foods- Japanese/ American Matcha waffles, vegan desserts, street foods like Chinese steamed buns and special fried rice as well as cultural foods such as Indian butter chicken just to name a few. The quality of the production work was high and their technical skill level has improved considerably over the semester. They have been a delightful group to teach!
