Maths Week
This year Maths week has been moved ‘online’ with exciting activities for our Mathletes!
Students are madly competing daily to solve maths puzzles with $10 gift vouchers up for grabs!
All of our students will have the chance to challenge themselves in round 2 of the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. The Challenge started in Australia in 2014 through the CSIRO Education & Outreach program, Digital Careers and it has a long and world-wide history.
Starting in Lithuania in 2004 by Prof. Valentina Dagiene from University of Vilnius, Bebras started with 3470 students from 146 schools. The Bebras Challenge has grown so much that there are now almost 60 countries with over 1.6 million students participating last year alone!
Bebras is the Lithuanian word for beaver and was chosen because beavers endeavour for perfection in their every day activities. They are known to be hard working and intelligent.
Our AMPED students will be competed in the largest Maths competition in the Southern Hemisphere, The Australian Mathematics Competition. It has become a truly international event, with countries throughout the Pacific and South East Asia, and some from even further afield taking part. We wish them well!
