Unit Title: The Animal World Through Line: Life |
Themes: Students learn how living things have basic needs, including food and water. They explore the features of living things that interest them and investigate how these things live in different places where their needs are met. Students also study how living things grow, change and have offspring similar to themselves. |
Questions: How do we know if something is alive? What do animals need to stay alive? What do living things need in order to grow and change? What are some different types of animals that we know of? How do we classify (sort) them? How do animals interact? What do animals eat? What features help animals to survive in their habitat? How do animals move? How does this help them survive? What are the basic needs of humans? How do these needs compare to the needs of other animals?
Key Understandings: All living things have basic needs How the environment affects them and other living things The biological needs, features, changes and habitats of different animals How to record, sort and represent their observations
