Depression - An original poem by Kylie Wolfe

Here’s a question,

Have you ever felt sad?

Have you ever felt bad?

So much that you would want to leave the earth?

Because you believe that you have no worth?

Well people are hurt,

And I'm here to alert,

You all about this pain,

This stress, this trouble, this awful chain,

Of constant strife,

Even people taking their own life,

To escape.

I’m talking about depression,

Why they didn't make that confession,

In that session with that expression,

Saying they show less aggression,

And that's just progression,

When really, they were just hiding depression.

There are people out there,

Who act as if they don't care,

That their life is unfair,

But they still wont share,

Their feelings,

Too scared of revealing,

What they're dealing and they think that they're healing,

But they’re not, and they need help.

So,

What would you do, if someone you cared about, suffered depression?

What would you do, if someone you cared about, kept it a secret from you?

Give help to those who need support,

You can’t let their life be cut short,

Because they thought that they shouldn’t worry you,

That they had reached a suicidal view.

So reach out to those in need,

Don’t be overcome by your own greed,

To succeed, not to bleed,

Or for anything at all,

Because before you know it you’ll have the furthest to fall.

Never hurt anyone,

Or you’re the reason they've begun,

To lose all of their self belief,

Their future is stolen and you are the thief!

Do you want to be the cause,

That makes people only see their flaws?

Do you want to be the reason,

Some people think their existence is treason?

Don’t put someone through this assault!

When you hurt someone, then any suffering they go through, is all your fault!

So please…

Show each other that you care,

And you can even help repair,

The despair that was there,

But since your aware, you can hear them share,

You can be the hopeful spark,

That shines a light onto their dark,

Care for each other,

Lean on one another,

You could make someone else’s day,

Just by listening to what they have to say,

And you can help simply by asking:

“Hey there, are you feeling okay?”

Education rights – Liliana Bell

There are children around the world, around the country, around the places, around these spaces,

Who don’t have the opportunity to have an education.

These children are just like us, but born in other places.

Places where people cannot afford education.

And these children cannot write, cannot read, cannot spell.

But these children are just like us, but born in other places.

Sometimes I sit down and think of how lucky I am.

I have the opportunity to be tested in an exam.

I have the opportunity to learn and have different concerns,

And that makes me realise how lucky I am.

There are families in countries where poverty is common,

Where money is scarce from little to none.

And it makes me sad that children cannot learn.

For these children are just like us, but born in other places.

We must influence the leaders of every Nation,

To help find a solution and work in collaboration,

If everyone in the world was educated,Then it wouldn’t matter where you were located,

To help, you can donate to places like: ‘Save the Children Australia' and ‘world vision.’

All it takes is that simple decision.

You can make a difference.

And help build resilience.

However you can help - help.

Because these children are just like us, but born in other places.

39% of the worlds’ population have no formal education.

And in many countries girls can’t have an education.

They don’t experience graduation, they experience discrimination.

If we help, we will help many.

As a nation, as a Globe, we must help.

For these children are just like us, but born in other places.

And at the end of the day we need to raise the awareness, because we all deserve an education.

As a collective, we are the next generation.

Like Malala said; “One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world”.

Thank you.
