NSWCCC/All Schools Athletics Championships

Sixteen Mater Dei students competed at the NSWCCC Athletics Championships in Sydney on Friday, 16 September. There were a number of strong performances with Brittany Adams, Georgia Carroll, Mikaela Cole, Lana Duffy and Carly Salmon progressing to the NSW All Schools Carnival. Mikaela, Brittany and Georgia enjoyed top 20 finishes in the 400m and Lana finished 7th in the Discus. Carly enjoyed another outstanding meet, finishing 1st in the 100m and 2nd in the 200m. She also finished first and passed the World Record for the T35 class in Long Jump. Whilst unable to have this mark ratified as a “World Record”, it is expected that Carly will be recognised as the U18, U20 and Opens Australian Record holder for her class in this event.
