Aboriginal Education

This term at Armidale Secondary College, scientists from Macquarie University and University of New England performed a range of science experiments with our indigenous students to give them hands on experience and hopefully steer them toward STEM careers in the future.

20 students from years 9 - 11 were selected to be leaders for the day whose job it was to teach students from year 7 and 8 about chemistry, physics, forensic science and more. Many of these leaders will go on to do more activities and events at Armidale Secondary College to build peer mentorship and a stronger sense of community.

All students had great day!

Year 8 student, Jarryd Cutmore, is mentoring ACPS students in Aboriginal dance.

Well done Jarryd on sharing your talents and skills with younger students and we look forward to hearing of their progress and development.
