Community

We joined Armidale ANTaR and the Armidale community to celebrate National Reconciliation Week and together cross the bridge as a metaphor for continued reconciliation in Australia.

Thank you to the many students and staff who joined in the walk today and to Armidale ANTaR for a very successful and meaningful event.

‘Be Brave. Make Change’

The University of New England School Acquisitive Art Prize (UNESAP) is held annually with the purpose of encouraging talented young artists in regional New South Wales. UNESAP has been developed through an on-going partnership with the University of New England.

The success of UNESAP has built steadily over the past nineteen years with a fantastic and overwhelming response from schools. UNESAP and the Let’s Hang It! Exhibition has become an enthusiastic part of the annual calendar for many schools throughout Regional NSW (from the Hunter/Central Coast, New England, North Coast and Western NSW regions).

Farrer is excited to announce we will be hosting the 2022 School Obstacle Event 'Mini Muddies on FRIDAY 2nd September from 11:00am -1:30pm.

What is the Mini Muddies Mud Obstacle Race? The Mini Muddies Mud Obstacle Race event is a dedicated event for School students and is an opportunity to showcase your school, and rally your Sports Houses with a unique and challenging event to add to your Sports calendar. This year’s theme is ‘Vikings'. Students will be able to dress up as their favourite viking, or co-ordinate their costumes with their House colours in a truly spectacular race to defeat their worst enemy yet, THE MUD (not to mention the other schools and opposing House Teams), and possibly win their Sports Department the Grand Prize!

Using all of their powers, and with the formation of strong Sporting House teams to overcome challenging obstacles, the Mini Muddies requires team spirit and team support, whilst trying to defeat the other schools and each other. The Mini Muddies Obstacle Mud Race is all about getting students outdoors for a whole lot of health, exercise, and fitness.Mini Muddies will provide 30 obstacle challenges across a varying terrain around Farrer’s site. There will be a 6km short-course (primary Schools) and 8k course (high schools) available. No amount of photos and descriptive text can prepare you for the Mini Muddies challenge – the students will love it!Team Spirit and collaboration, tactics and strategy, not to mention a healthy dose of friendly competition in a School V School or inter-House battle, could see your school take out this year’s Mini Muddies Mud Obstacle Race trophy!

What should you do next ?- If your school decides to participate, please let us know. This may be just a set class or a set year (ie year 9) or a few years (7-10 years).- share the poster with your students and parents- Set up your team/s via https://bit.ly/3GeQoLsand send a LINK out to all students (please note an American date will initially show, to fix this click the country in the top right hand corner and change to Australian format)- The parents will then sign/pay for their student directly on this website https://bit.ly/3GeQoLs so there is no need for your school to manage this.- You can then see all the students who have joined the team etc.
