YEAR 2 EXCURSION TO ENCHANTED ADVENTURE GARDENS

2A: This excursion was really fun because the Sky Scramble was exactly like I thought it was going to be! The tube slides were also fun, I went on with Jack and Karim. I was not scared at all!  - Hugo

2B: I really enjoyed it because I got to hang out with people I don’t usually play with or are in different classes. Going on the tube slides with Lake was really fun. When we were on the big bump backwards and slid down it was scary but fun. I liked going on the tyre maze, even though I didn’t know the way out it was a big challenge! - Isla

2C: I really liked the Sky Scramble because they had fun sections in the nets with giant yoga balls, pool noodles and it was fun being up high. The tube slides also were really fun but a little bit scary when we went backwards, I still went on it twice though! - Alice M

YEAR 3-6 NEWS

Grand Prix Excursion -  Students in years 3 - 6 had an incredible day at Australian Grand Prix. They extended their STEM skills, such as innovation, self-confidence, communication, and teamwork. They visited a range of exhibits throughout the day and loved the atmosphere of a Formula 1 event.

Cross Country Trials – Students in years 3 – 6 did an outstanding job in completing their cross country trials. Many students smashed their personal bests in both the distance they ran and the time they completed their allocated distance. It has been so good to see so many students improve their overall fitness and running capabilities. Successful boys and girls from each age group are eligible to go onto the Southport District Cross Country event held on Friday the 20th May at Murphy’s Reserve. A notice will be posted on COMPASS closer to the date with further information about this event.

In the Classroom – It has been a busy 2 weeks to kick start term 2 in years 3 - 6, however everyone has come back re-energised and ready to learn. In Readers Workshop students have been exploring the difference between Facts and Opinions. In Writers Workshop students have been learning to write persuasive texts and use persuasive techniques to convince a reader of something. In Maths students have been exploring multiple open-ended problems that involve the 4 operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students have started to ‘Look, Listen and Learn’ about their Curiosity unit on ‘How Things Grow’. All students have continued to ‘Navigate Their Ideas’ with their Passion projects.
