From the

Acting Principal

BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

Our caring parent community and how you all come together to support one another. A particular thank you to Stephen Miles, our Families and Friends President, for leading our community in this area.

MOBILE PHONE AND SMART WATCH POLICY

A reminder that students are not allowed mobile phones or smart watches at school during school time, even if they have a ‘school mode’ option. If a child brings any internet enable device to school they need to hand it in to their teacher at the start of the day and pick it up when they leave. You can find our policy on our website here: Phone Policy

THANK YOU!

Thank you to one of our parents Michael, and Melbourne University, for donating some fantastic furniture to spruce up our staff room for our teachers. We really appreciate it!

PLAYGROUND UPDATE

The playground is coming along and almost complete! The rubber pour can only be completed during dry weather, so as soon as we have a few nice days in a row we will be able open it up for the students to use. We cannot wait!

FRIENDSHIP TREE

A big thank you to Anna Barden for our new amazing Friendship Tree cover! The kids

 absolutely love it.

  • The Kinder Gym is a gymnastics program for children aged 1-4 years old.
  • Rhythm and Rhym is a free music and speech therapy program for children aged 2-4 years old! Designed and facilitated by music and speech therapists, Rhythm and Rhyme aims to enhance your child's language skills through fun music activities!

KUTCHA CIRCLING TIME SONGS AND STORIES

Please find the flyer for the indigenous Kutcha Circling Time event. A brief description of the event is included below:

“Kutcha uses music to create connections across cultures, generations, and spaces. With an innate ability to communicate, he uses his unique, diverse talents to nurture understanding and self-knowledge amongst all those with whom he has contact. Kutcha is a Songman, not simply a songwriter. He draws on a profound sense of all those who have gone before him on this land, along with his own life experiences, to help his audiences understand themselves, reconnect with their culture and promote cultural understanding. His music touches the soul and through his humour and insights we realise that with recognition of the true Aboriginal history, there can be hope of reconciliation.”

ROTARY UPDATE

South Melbourne Park Primary has a strong partnership with our local Rotary Club and we want to share some of the excellent work that they have been doing. Please find the Mac Robertson’s Gils’ High School Interact Club article from Rotary. Interact clubs organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Rotary club sponsors, along with a teacher, mentor and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills. What a delight it was to arrive at Mac Rob last Tuesday to pick up bags and bags and bags of stationery the club had been collecting over the last year.

STORY DOGS

We had our first visit from our Story Dogs this week! We are very excited to see this partnership continue and grow to support our students.
