Primary Report
From the Primary Office
What a fantastic way to end our first Term today. It was great to see our students, staff and families come together at today’s Easter Bonnet Parade and enjoy activities throughout the morning. After being separated for so long, it is wonderful that we are able to connect again through engaging activities, programs and initiatives.
Another example of being able to connect this week was at the Primary Easter services. We had the pleasure of attending both the K-2 and Years 3-6 services and Mr Martin and the Year 6 leaders should be congratulated on the beautiful services which commemorated the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We welcome our students back to Term 2 on Wednesday 27 April. Students will attend a whole school ANZAC Day service during period 4 this day. Primary School staff will be involved in a professional learning day on Tuesday 26 April which focuses on the implementation of the new K-2 English and Mathematics syllabus.
As we return in Term 2, please take note of the expectations below:
- When dropping your child/ren off, please walk them to the gate or classroom. The carpark is a busy place for students to navigate on their own. Similarly, in the afternoon, please collect your child/ren from their class or meet them at the school gate or designated pick up point inside the school grounds.
- The playgrounds and equipment are out of bounds after school. Parents of toddlers, please ensure you actively supervise younger siblings.
- Dogs are to remain outside of the school grounds.
We thank you for your cooperation in advance.

Crazy Hair Day fundraiser
On Monday 4 April, Moama Anglican Grammar got behind Rebecca Douglas, one of our Year 11 students, who donated her hair through the Wigs 4 Kids organisation. In total, we raised $562.10 for this great cause, which creates wigs for children with cancer. Congratulations to Rebecca for taking on this initiative. We love your new hair style!
Year 3 Deep Learning Critically Endangered Animal Safari
Year 3 at MAG have been participating in an environmental project on behalf of the World Wildlife Fund. Animal extinction is a serious, global environmental issue and Year 3 decided they could help.
Their mission was to try and save one animal from extinction. Year 3 could do this by educating themselves and others about their chosen animal. The animals were chosen from the World Wildlife Fund’s 2022 Critically Endangered List. Animals on this list include: Eastern Lowland Gorilla, Hawksbill Turtles, Amur Leopard, Black Rhino and the African Forest Elephant to name a few.
To complete this important mission Year 3 had to:
Create a model of their animal made from recycled materials at home, and choose either:
- Informational A3 poster,
- Google Slides OR
- A website (Google Sites) on their animal and how they hope to save them from extinction in the wild.
In order to successfully complete this Deep Learning Task, the students had to demonstrate their abilities across 5 key dimensions.
- Genuine interest in human and environmental sustainability
- Using technology for learning
- Solving complex problems to help people
- Questioning, planning and conducting scientific investigations and communicating the results.
- Comparing features and characteristics of living things.
The project culminated in a Deep learning Critically Endangered Animal Safari on Thursday in the MAG Zoo (hall). Primary school students, teachers, special guests and Year 3 parents were invited to Safari together and learn all about these critically endangered animals, view models of the animals themselves and ask some interesting questions of the students.
