INTRODUCING OUR NEW RECEPTIONIST

The school is pleased to introduce to you  Stephanie Dunstan.  Welcome Stephanie!

What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year?

I have taken on the Reception/Admin Role. I'm excited to take on a new challenge in a new environment.

What did you do previously?

I have worked in retail for the past 9 years and just finished up as an Assistant Store Manager.

What do you like to do for fun?

I started a side business with my Husband and we do an assortment of things from event set up and signage to personalised items to family calendars. This usually takes up a lot of my time.

NAPLAN 2022 - YEAR 3, 5,

7 & 9

NAPLAN will be held at BHCS from 10-17 May.  here.  Information about withdrawals is now available, please contact vfraanje@bhcs.vic.edu.au for more information.

Students in Year 7- 9 will need to bring their own headphones (wired only - no Bluetooth).

STUDENTS IN THE CARPARK

We kindly request that all families, please keep an eye on their children while they are in the carpark.  We have noticed some students walking along the retaining walls near the kookaburra and koala sculptures. We have also seen students jumping off the retaining walls.

This raises some concerns, and the last thing we want to see is a tragic accident with a child falling off the retaining wall into the carpark. For this reason, we ask that all families please partner with us in keeping an eye on their children while in the carpark, ensuring they refrain from walking along or jumping off the retaining walls. We ask this with your child's safety in mind.

A STORY IN MINIATURE - VATE WRITING COMPETITION

Students in Years 7 to 12 and their teachers are invited to submit a story between 300 and 500 words in length inspired by the writing competition theme (A Story in Miniature).

We encourage students and teachers to find inspiration from the miniature stories that make up their daily life - the small interactions and delightful tidbits that make up their day - and transform them, with brevity, into a piece of polished prose.

There are four categories available in the competition. Schools may submit up to five entries in each of the categories.

Years 7 and 8 students | Years 9 and 10 students | Years 11 and 12 students | Teachers

Each entry must be emailed to cjerram@bhcs.vic.edu.au by 4pm on Tuesday 31st May 2022. All entries must be the original work of the person entering the piece.

If you have any questions or would like any further details please email Clare Jerram cjerram@bhcs.vic.edu.au

"It's possible, in a poem or a short story, to write about commonplace things and objects using commonplace but precise language, and to endow those things - a chair, a window curtain, a fork, a stone, a woman's earring - with immense, even startling power." - Raymond Carver
