Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community
Our students will acknowledge and remember the events of Holy Week next week by presenting some of the Stations of the Cross. As Christians, the events of Holy Week remind us that Jesus died on the cross so he could rise and revel himself as the Son of God.
First Eucharist
On behalf of our school community, I would like to congratulate our Year Four and Year Five students who this Sunday receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. After a period of preparation they are ready to take the next step in their faith journey.

School Closure Day
A reminder that next Wednesday is a school closure day for all our students. On this day our staff will be working in the area of faith development with our facilitator Sr Rita, a member of the Josephite (Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart) order of sisters.
Opening of the School Year Mass
It was great to see so many of our families at the Opening of the School Year Mass last Sunday. Nearly sixty students and their families joined our wider parish community to celebrate the Eucharist. Thank you to those families who joined us who are not of the Christian faith, allowing us to celebrate as a community and give thanks whilst continuing our journey trying to be the best version of ourselves.
Easter Raffle
Our Year Six leaders are selling raffle tickets each afternoon after school for our Easter raffle. Our raffle will be drawn next Friday. Can I thank our parents who sourced Easter Eggs as prizes from our local supermarkets and Jodi and Cettina who organised the prizes yesterday.
We will have a Parents and Friends meeting tomorrow, in the multipurpose room at 9.00am.
A big thank you to Jodi, Prem and Cettina who organised our hot cross bun orders earlier today. Hot cross buns will be given out to families next Thursday.
Parent Classroom Helpers
We are welcoming back our all important parent helpers next term. Our parents who helped teachers in the classroom in previous years have found it a rewarding experience and of course teachers have really appreciated the assistance. Parents will need to be double vaccinated and wear a face mask whilst in the classroom. For more information see Jess' Deputy Principal page in this newsletter.
School Fees
The school fee statements were emailed on the 16th February to all our families. It has come to our attention that some families did not receive the email. We ask that you check your junk mail and if you have not received your invoice, you contact the school office by either email or phone.
Who said our Sacred Heart students didn't miss playing in the sandpit?
Some feedback from one of our parents
Hi Mark,
I follow a few parenting and learning experts on Facebook etc. This popped up on my feed from one of the people I follow, and I instantly thought of Sacred Heart - this is exactly what Sacred Heart does and this is why we chose Sacred Heart for Joseph - thank you! Cettina
What we should never do, is force a child to learn. They have to feel safe, loved, listened to, and included for that magic to happen. As a teacher, you can prepare the curriculum, the classroom and the paperwork as much as you like. But until you prepare your heart to receive those wonderful children into your class, learning will always be limited! The art of education is an exchange - trust, love and care for your students and they will learn like never before.
Take care.
Yours Sincerely
