3/4 BO'C  - Our Learning

Ms O'Connor

We have hit the ground running this week in 3/4 BOC!

In Numeracy we have been working as data analysts to identify types of data, its purpose, what conclusions we can draw from it, and how we can display data using graphs, images, tables and spreadsheets. We asked the staff at Trinity some hard hitting questions about who their favourite football team is and what the most popular food in Richmond is. After we obtained our data we collated it and created some graphs to represent our findings.

In Literacy we have started the term with a new focus on ‘Writing to Persuade.’ We have had many passionate discussions and we are learning how to put forward a clear point of view while backing up our arguments with facts and evidence.  The students have taken great interest in persuasive writing and have been using their research and debating skills to find creative ways to convince their peers about:

  • Why AFL is better than NRL
  • Why dogs make better pets than cats
  • Why school should be four days instead of five
  • Why younger people should get to vote in the election
