Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope all of you were able to enjoy some great time together as a family especially over the special Easter Days.

It was wonderful to hear the many holiday stories shared by your children and to see them reconnecting with their friends back at school.

Once again we have an exciting term of learning and clebrating planned ahead and we are already off to a great start.

As you would have seen, the playground work is well and truly under way and, weather permitting, the workers will be able to complete the project in under two weeks.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding dealing with this disruption especially at the start of the term. Our finished project should look something like this:

ANZAC Assembly

A big thank you to Mrs Antonella and many of our Year 3/4 students who led a beautiful tribute to our ANZACs on Tuesday morning. Sadly with what is happening in the Ukraine at present, the significance of this day is made even more relevant to our children. Our student leaders shared prayers for all those who have died in the past and for those suffering because of wars even today.

Electoral Polling Place - Saturday May 21

The day for our Federal Election has been set and Trinity Primary School has been chosen as a Polling Place for that day.  Polling will begin at 8am and finish at 6pm. Our Parents and Friends group are already busy planning for the day which, in past years, has proven to be a great fundraising opportunity as well as a great way of promoting our school community in the local area.

Covid Updates! Term 2, 2022

From 11.59 pm Friday 22 April, face masks, while recommended, are not required in any school setting. This means students in grades 3 to 6, staff and visitors in primary schools are no longer required to wear face masks. Any student or staff member who wishes to wear a mask may do so, including those who are medically at-risk.

Students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19, and have completed their 7-day isolation period, now do not need to undertake rapid antigen test (RAT) screening for 12 weeks after their release from isolation. This was previously 8 weeks.

Students and staff who are household contacts of a COVID-19 case are no longer required to quarantine. They can return to school as long as they undertake rapid antigen tests (RAT) 5 times within their 7-day period and wear face masks indoors if they are aged 8 and above unless they have a valid exemption.

If any household contact returns a positive RAT result during this period, they must isolate for 7 days and not attend school.

Parents, carers and other adult visitors (not performing work) are no longer required to show evidence of two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

The supply of RATs will continue for the first 4 weeks of this term. The screening will remain the same: Twice Weekly.

Family Mass

On Tuesday 10th May, we will celebrate Family Mass as a school community. As Fr Trung will be away we thank Fr Michael who will be here to celebrate with us. All parents and family are invited to join us in St James Church from 10am.

ANZAC DAY Prayer

Gracious and loving God, the cross of Christ is the sign of your desire for justice and peace for all. Open our minds to your vision as we remember all who suffered through Australia and New Zealand’s involvement in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Grant all service persons who sacrificed health and life for the good of all, the gift of your deep peace. May we who inherit the freedom for which they fought become instruments of your peace in our homes, workplaces and world. We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen

Jesuit Maytime Fair

We are excited to announce that the next Jesuit Maytime Fair will be held on Saturday 7 May 2022.

The Maytime Fair is a major annual Jesuit Mission event in Victoria supported by Xavier College, local schools, parishes and other communities in and beyond the state.

The Fair will include amusements and games for children of all ages as well as a variety of music, a huge array of food outlets and stalls, plant stalls, a second hand book store, cakes and confectionery, raffles and lots more.

School Closure Day Friday May 20th Spirituality

On Friday 20th May there will be no classes for students as all staff will be involved in a Faith and Spirituality professional learning day. The day will be led by Mr Michael McGurr. Michael has published extensively in the areas of philosophy, literature, spirituality and ethics.  He is a leader in the creative exploration and expression of a faith that does justice and has worked in the area of formation with the boards and staff of many schools and other organisations.  We greatly value the opportunity for our entire staff to be involved in professional learning together and to model for our children the importance of being lifelong learners. We thank all our families in advance for their support in this.

Learning Updates

Next week I will include links to each Year Level's Learning Overviews for the term. These overviews are a great way for parents to see what will be covered in each of the curriculum areas taught throughout the term.

STEAM Festival - Ms Foley

This coming Saturday the 30th there will be a STEAM festival at the Richmond Library which is an expo of all things science, technology, engineering, arts and maths. It will be a great experience for all children as well as parents, so if you are free it would certainly be worthwhile making a visit.

Parent Talking Circles - Home Learning

On Monday 9th May (Week 3 of Term 2), following our Whole School Morning Gathering we will be holding the first of our Parent Talking Circles in the library. From the feedback we received in last year's parent surveys, enabling parents to have more input into our school policies is an area we can improve in at Trinity. In response to this I have included a link to our current Home Learning Policy below and invite those interested to provide their feedback on Monday at our parent talking circle. We will also spend some time discussing ways parents can support their children in their learning at home.
