Year 10 Work Experience – Reminder.

It is fantastic to see so many of our Year 10 students visit the Careers and Pathways office to talk about work experience. The one-week placement takes place in term two, commencing Monday 20th of June and finishing on and including Friday 24th of June.

To further assist students organising their work experience, students can access the work experience link on our Careers and Pathways Site. Here students will be able to find:

General Information about the work experience program.
Information about how to complete the required work experience forms and safe@work certificates. The safe@work certificates are a requirement for all students and must be submitted with work experience forms.
Tips on how to contact potential employers

Forms and certificates must be completed and returned to the Careers and Pathways office no later than Thursday 12th of May.

The careers and pathways team together with the pastoral care teachers will continue to provide support for each student as they organise their work experience placements. It is important however that students start/continue to make contact with employers, complete required forms and also complete their safe@work certificates.

Students without a work experience placement will be required to attend their timetabled classes at school during the work experience week.

Parents & Friends Work Experience/Placement Network

Work experience/ placements is invaluable for our students. It provides practical experience exploring the world of work together with meaningful opportunities to learn about different industries, meet employers and explore jobs of interest.

As our year 10 students prepare for their work experience week in term 2 and our VCAL students prepare for their Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placements throughout the year, we are seeking interest from our Tarneit Senior College community to develop a college database of potential workplaces that would be keen to have our students undertake their placements with them.

Our students have commenced researching and contacting employers for their placements. We are asking parents / guardians to get in touch with us if there is opportunity for our students to undertake their work placements where you work and/or if you have family or friends who would be willing to have students complete their placements with them.

Structured Workplace Learning

VCAL Students should have secured their placements for Structured Workplace Learning for the following dates:

Year 11 May 30th - June 10th

Year 12 June 14th - June 24th

If you have had trouble securing your workplacement, please speak to Jamie Calleja-Bailey or one of you VCAL teachers ASAP.
