The Class of 1997 at their 20 year reunion in September
It was fantastic to see so many of the Class of 1997 in mid-September.
A highlight of the evening was reconnecting with our current Principal, Jon Charlton, who 20 years ago taught maths to many of the attendees. Not too many appeared to have taken mathematics as a career path though!
School leaders Hannah Bahn and Izzy Clarke did a great job welcoming and showing everyone around the School. We heard about a poor student who managed to sew their finger rather than the fabric in sewing class back in the day, special aprons for Food Technology classes, and it was noted that there wasn't a Thermomix in sight in 1997!
We had a lovely lunch in the School staff lounge on November 10.
Our wonderful canteen and catering manager Kerrie Kelly impressed with a fabulous spread and the scones with jam and cream were a highlight as always.
Even though we didn't quite have our usual numbers in attendance, there was a real warmth and friendship around the table.
I particularly enjoyed hearing stories from Rosemary Robinson about her time growing up in her family home that was the local plant nursery. The same site is where our Music School (The Patsy Venn Centre) now stands. Hopefully, we will have some of Rosemary's memories in writing for our next publication.
