Get to know our College Leadership Team

CHRISTINA S. - KIEWA HOUSE CAPTAIN

I started studying at Doncaster Secondary College when I was in year 7 in 2014. Some of my interests outside of school include hanging out with my friends, listening to music, travelling and performing at events for my greek dancing school. Throughout my school years at the college, I have been actively involved in Inter-school sports teams such as Netball, Volleyball, Badminton, Futsal and football.

The confidence I found to apply for this leadership position came from wanting to do something for the school in some way, and doing something that I wanted to do for myself and not worrying if it was cool or not.

My advice for students who aspire to become future leaders would be, to get involved in as many school activities or events as you like and to do whatever inspires you without worrying about what others think. The number of opportunities available through school have been the major contributors to my ability to be a confident leader and someone who is able to seek advice from students within the school and action change where possible. A supportive network at home and at school really assisted in providing those opportunities, as well as giving me support when times were tough or I was struggling.

College Annual Theme – Make Dreams Reality

What does this statement mean to you?

To me, the statement ‘Make Dreams Reality’ means believing in yourself, in order to make your goals in life a reality. It also means that you should never give up and always try your hardest.

How will you live by this statement throughout the year?

This year I will live by this statement by trying my hardest and believing in myself in order to achieve the best score that I possibly can at the end of year 12.

What are your goals for 2019 for yourself in your role and personally?

My goals for 2019 as a house captain are to encourage more students to be involved in house activities and to inspire them to try something outside of their comfort zone.

For myself personally, I want to put my effort into school this year and so I can achieve my best personal score, knowing I have given it my all.

What are your long-term life ambitions and aspirations?

My long-term life ambitions are to travel as much of the world as possible without neglecting the country we live in today and to get an education, and eventually work in my dream job as an exercise physiologist.

What would you like your legacy to be for Doncaster Secondary College?

I would like my legacy at DSC to be that I was always there for others and that I never gave up.

In one sentence what would you like to say to your fellow students about your Pride in Doncaster Secondary College?

The one thing I am most proud about at this school is our sense of community, and the way students and teachers work together to support each other no matter what.
