National Day of Action Against Bullying

Friday, 15 March was the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence. To mark this day and to continue to tackle the issue of bullying, Doncaster Secondary College enlisted the help of a group of student leaders in our school.

These student leaders spent two periods looking at the school’s research into this issue. They then discussed the main areas of focus that they as a student body feel would have the greatest positive impact on the safety and comfort of every student in our school. From this analysis, the focus group developed three goals that they will be working towards meeting throughout the year. The group will be meeting at regular points to build and implement programs in order to meet their goals.

The goals decided on by this focus group are as follows:

  • Build a whole school understanding of bullying and its impact and promote positive behaviour change.
  • Increase school spirit and sense of connection within the school community.
  • Provide students with skills, training and tools to help build supportive student to student relationships.
