Father's Day Breakfast

Next Thursday - 30th  August - we are inviting the Father's, uncles, grandpa's and influential males to come to school for a celebratory breakfast.  This is an important date on our calendar as we like to see the males get together over a cuppa and to share some games and activities with our Foundation students.

Breakfast is in our Foundation room from 8am to 9am.  We look forward to seeing many of you join us for a cuppa and a bacon & egg roll!

Wheel's Day

What a fun Celebration Day! Well done to all our students who participated so positively during our Wheel's Day.  We had a class full of wheels! And of course it goes without saying.... We had a WHEELY GREAT DAY!!!!

Please check out our PBS page to see the many photos!!

Kinder to School Transition

What a great session we had with our 2019 enrolled students! It was so great to see them join in with book week activities.  They enjoyed a book 'Room on the Broom' and made a crown with characters on it.  This time of year reminds us how quickly we are moving through the year.  As our current Foundation student are showing great signs of growth and development we begin to meet and welcome our newbies to Kilsyth as we begin looking towards 2019! Our next session is on TUESDAY 18th September.

Check out some of our new faces!

Book Week

What a terrific effort we have gone to in dressing up as a book character to celebrate our love for literacy!! You could see the enjoyment all over the faces of our students as they shared their favourite character outfit and shared the reading experience with multiple books.

Our decorated doorway looks great with our chosen short listed book - The Very Noisy Baby written by Alison Lester.  Thanks to Kylie for her help with this - she's a great display maker!

Tuesday consisted of multi-age day where students worked alongside their big buddy and participated in numerous literacy activities from fine motor tasks to technology and craft!  Thanks for making this day such a special and memorable one for all of our students!

Upcoming

We are beginning the genre of poetry in our writing. We have explored rhythym and syllables in our lead up to writing poetry.  Stay tuned for some work samples soon!

Reading - we are continuing to look for clues in the books we read so we can then begin to make inferences. We have said that we are detectives and able to use our schema as we look for clues. This is something you could be doing at home with your child.  Telling them to look for evidence as to what the pictures are telling them or what the words are saying.  This is a comprehension strategy that is built on throughout each level at school and one that comes up

Maths has taken us to the measurement content of the curriculum. We've been exploring length and mass. The great part about this unit is that it's investiagative and invites students to use language related to real life experiences.

Our Toolbox Incursion is happening next Wednesday 29th August.  We look forward to sharing our experiences of Social and Emotional Learning from this!

Happy Weekend :)
