NAPLAN
Next week the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for all Year 7 and 9 students.
The testing gives a snapshot of student ability and assists in planning the teaching and learning program.
I look forward to students arriving at school on time with their equipment ready to give the tests their best effort.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN testing, please contact Janine Sayers, Head of Curriculum.
Year 11
Presentation Balls
Last Friday and Saturday evening I had the pleasure of attending the first and second of our Year 11 Presentation Balls. The students had attended many rehearsals throughout Term 1 and 2 every Tuesday afternoon to ensure they had the dance steps mastered ready for the big night.
All students did themselves and their families proud with the way in which they performed on both evenings and it was lovely to see families out on the dance floor dancing together after the formalities were over.
I look forward to attending the final presentation ball this evening, and would like to take this opportunity to thank our families for supporting this event so enjoyed by students.
Thanks also to Dani Devine, Natalie Roetman and the Senior School team for their organisation and to the staff who attended and supported the event.
Annual Implementation Plan
The annual implementation plan required to be completed by all government schools, describes how the key improvement strategies in the school strategic plan, and other significant projects, will be put into operation during the year and how they will be monitored. It assists schools to:
- plan and communicate their work for the coming year and how this will lead to achieving their identified goals and targets
- ensure efficient and effective allocation of resources to complete the work
- monitor progress and success
The Lilydale High School AIP has been completed, some of the goals for 2016 include:
- Improving student outcomes through improved teaching practice and use of data
- Improving student attendance
- Improving pathways for all students
- Strengthen the wellbeing and resilience of students
This gives us clear goals to aim towards to ensure we give our students to best opportunities possible.
Vision Statement
The recently developed vision statement for Lilydale High School is:
‘LHS is dedicated to providing an environment that values academic excellence and maximises opportunities and pathways to enable all students to become resilient and contributing members of the community’
‘Excellence in learning, resilience in life, thriving in community’
The vision statement drives everything we do here at Lilydale High and is important is maintaining the focus on our fundamental purpose and why we exist.
Grade 6 Information Evening
Next Tuesday May 10 our annual 'Grade 6 Information Evening' will again take place at 7.30 pm in the School Hall. The evening is an opportunity to showcase our school and what we have to offer prospective students.
Thanks in advance to staff and students for their assistance and attendance in ensuring this is a great night. Everyone welcome.
