Students are now back into the routine of normal classes after a busy camp period.
As we are already up to Week 4, students will be undertaking a range of assessment tasks and will find themselves very busy during class time.
There may also be an increase in homework and expectations outside of school. We remind students to take into consideration the following study tips as the school year starts to get more hectic;
- Write down all homework in your planner
- Do a bit each night
- Check with your teacher on due dates
- Speak to your teacher if you need assistance
- Plan your study out
- Write a checklist
- Highlight areas of difficulty
- Have all books ready for class
- Be prepared for class
- Stay motivated - you can do it, it just takes persistence
Home Group Activities
This term, students are taking part in a range of Home Group activities;
- Health
- Dealing with difficult situations
- Goal setting
- Attendance Ladder (a pizza lunch at the end of term for the winning Home Group)
- Principal's Awards
- Excellence ticket draws
Congratulations
At Lilydale High School we aim to recognise those who succeed in extra-curricular activities.
We congratulate Tyran Tomich (7.41) who won every race in last Fridays Interschool Motocross excursion. A fantastic effort, Tyran!

Year 7 Captains
Hi guys, I'm Tyler Swann, one of the Year 7 Vice Captains. First of all, welcome to Week 4 of Term 2. Hope you are enjoying the term so far.
As you all know we had our ANZAC commemorating day two weeks ago. A few lucky students and teachers went to to the city for the Melbourne ANZAC day ceremony, while the rest of the school commemorated at Lilydale High School.
I would just like to thank all the students who put up their hand to go to this amazing service and also to the teachers who put this enjoyable experience on for us. I really enjoyed it and hope everyone else who went on the excursion enjoyed it to.
This week the school 'Fun Run' was cancelled on Tuesday afternoon due to extreme wind conditions. It was resceduled for today, Periods 5 & 6, which had perfect conditions. I know many Year 7 students were looking forward to running.
Well, bye for now and hope you enjoy the rest of the term.

Year 8 Significant Persons Project
2016 marks the inaugural year of the Significant Persons Project for Year 8 students. This project spans the Arts and English faculties and is intended to allow students to identify and pay homage to a significant person in their lives.
Students have chosen a range of people to be their significant person: parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, coaches and music teachers.
In English, students have written a reflective piece of writing about their chosen person that was inspired by that person’s character. In their Arts subjects, students have created relief sculptures and dramatic interpretations that symbolise their significant person.
The culmination of many weeks of hard work will be an afternoon of festivities, spread over two exciting afternoons. These afternoons are an opportunity for the school community to celebrate students’ achievements, and allow them to publically acknowledge and thank their significant person. Students will invite their families and significant person to tour the gallery and view their work while enjoying a light afternoon tea.

Adelaide
On the Friday morning we took to the skies bound for Adelaide. We had to stay with the team and were not allowed contact with our parents, ensuring that we were left alone and undisturbed as we independently prepared for the big day.
Leading up to race day I had a lot of fun with the team and the girls I was staying with. With Sunday looming it became time to get serious. Most people were quiet, filled with race day nerves.
The nature of the event insured that the day was going to be filled with action. So for me that was a heat and two finals.
When we got to the track everything was starting to get exciting. We kicked the day off with marching and the opening ceremony. This was followed by what the coordinators of the event called a "war cry". Each state has their own chant and you take it in turns to chant out your chant. The team had a lot of pressure inflicted on them by management staff, as Victoria historically had a strong reputation for their chanting.
After the opening ceremony I had a bit of time until my races, but after my first race it
became very hectic with at the most, a half an hour gap.
I was very pleased to come away with two gold in the following events and was very honed to represent my club, school, and state (Victoria).
