DAV Round 5

It has been an exceptionally busy but rewarding time for the SBC Debating Squad. The final round of DAV Competition has been run, the ACC Intermediate competition looms and there are many new junior boys who have recently commenced a  DAV Junior Schools Program competition.

 

Congratulations to SBC 2 in the DAV competition, they finished on top of the Bayside ladder for their section, and are off to the finals at the end of August.  Well done, and the very best of luck to:   Elijah Barrett, Flynn Morley, Liam Collins and Tom Griffin.

 

Results from the Final Round, and final places on the Bayside Regional ladder:

 

A Grade: John Haycroft, Nathan Saldana and Nicholas Pudney.  Won by a point against Albert Park Secondary College 2, Best Speaker John Haycroft, finished 17th out of 18 schools.

 

C Grade: Nicholas Gale, Aaron Gill, Malcom Liddell, Joel Bright and Max Vaughan. Forfeited due to Year 10 work program, finished 5th out of 20 schools.

 

D Grade: SBC 1 – Dillon Bulman, Jeremy Mann and Aaron Arthur.  Lost by three points to St Leonard’s College 6, finished 3rd from 27 schools.

                 : SBC 2 – Elijah Barrett, Flynn Morley, Liam Collins and Tom Griffin. Won by five points against Kostka Hall 1, Best Speaker Flynn Morley, finished 1st from 27 schools.

                 : SBC 3 – William Devlin, Jacob Barry, Jonathon Cassar and Jack Pooley.  Won by three points against BGS2, Best Speaker William Devlin, finished 12th from 27 schools.

                 : SBC 4 – Sam Gough, Declan Dawson, Ronan Larkin and Sebastian Bartolome. Won by a point against BGS3, finished 13th from 27 schools.

 

Well done to all students who represented St Bede’s College throughout the 2016 DAV season. Many thanks to the staff mentors who so generously gave of their time and efforts to assist with this extra-curricular program:

 

Ms Robyn Kensley, Miss Sally Spencer, Mrs Vivienne Ditcham and Miss Laura Matthews.  Without such generosity of spirit, such programs could not run.  To all of the parents and friends who showed their support of the College debaters throughout the season, many thanks.
