Year 8

Camps

Term 2 saw 9 Homerooms venture down to Cypress Lodge for their class camp.  The following 3 students have written a short reflection about their camp experience:

In Term 2 every Year 8 class got the opportunity to spend 2 nights and 3 days at the College camp on Phillip Island.  All of the students got to experience different activities compared to last year's camp. This year the activities that we did were: a bike ride through bushland, surfing, under-water hockey at Wonthaggi pool, flying fox, giant swing, a high ropes course and a visit to the Vietnam War Museum.  Going on camp in Term 2 is a good thing for classmates to make new friendships early in the year and for students to get to strengthen their friendship with their Homeroom teacher.                                                                                                                 Matthew Dunne (8.8)

Without question, camp at Cypress Lodge on Phillip Island was a major highlight this year and the memories and stories that were created will continue to be passed down through the years. Despite enduring some of the coldest weeks on record, which resulted in freezing surfs and chilling bike rides, it was a successful way to bond with your classmates and peers.  Every day was jam-packed, offering activities of bowling, lengthy walks and perhaps most notably, the unique experience of underwater hockey. The trip concluded with an informative session at the Vietnam Veterans Museum. Nevertheless, the Year 8 camp was certainly a great experience and we offer our thanks to Mr Strom, Mr Murphy and our year level homeroom teachers.                                                                                                                                                               Elijah Barrett (8.3)

Wet, windy and freezing cold! Going to camp in the last week of term

(THE MIDDLE OF WINTER) would not have been my preference, but as a

student from 8.2, I had to toughen up!  The first day was surprisingly

good weather and we made the most of it and hit the surf.  The surf was

choppy, but we had a great time out there. We did many other exciting

activities such as underwater Hockey, bike riding, visiting the Vietnam

War Veteran's Museum, a movie night and got lost at A-Maze'n Things.

However, my class mates and my favourite activity was when we

were given free time to head down to the beach and explore the rocks

and rockpools.                                                                                                          Will Straford (8.2)
