College Captains

We are so lucky to have been given the roles of College Captains for 2019. We are looking forward to the start of 2019 so we can show MSJ what we have in store. Working alongside the rest of the student leadership team will be a great experience with so many creative and passionate minds to work with. So far Amy and I have helped organise the 2019 Year 12 hoodie with an amazing design by Tegan Murphy. We have also run various meetings to organise activities like Wacky Wednesday. Once again, we are so honoured and blessed to be given this role and we cannot wait for everyone to see what fun things we have planned.

We have been working very hard with WAAM and the rest of the SLT to make sure that we can create an impact on the school that is unique to the Class of 2019. We look forward to working alongside all the members of the SLT, especially our junior leaders, who are already full of such incredible ideas and enthusiasm! Again, we are so thankful to be given this amazing opportunity, and we hope that we can make the MSJ community proud.

Wellbeing

The Wellbeing portfolio started out this term celebrating all of this years sporting achievements with the Annual Sports Representative lunch. All students that participated in an SCSA sport this year were invited to come and enjoy lunch and listen to our guest speaker, Georgie Parker, who was a former Australian “Hockeyroos” member and is now playing for the AFLW. It was a very successful event and it was great to see all the students come to celebrate MSJ’s 11 SCSA wins for the year, as well as students who received their badges for participating in four or more SCSA sports.

Coming up for the rest of the term, our Lunchtime Activity leader with help from our Junior House Captains will be holding a downball competition which is open to everyone to join in. Not only this but the sports box and table tennis tables will also be available for girls to use during lunch for the remainder of the term.

Academic

The first few weeks of this term have gone by so quickly, it is hard to keep up with everything that has been going on! The Academic portfolio has been busy promoting events and competitions throughout the term. We are currently focusing on putting together some exam guidance, so you will hear from us soon with some tips and tricks on how to survive this time of year. We have also begun to organise some of next year’s events and we hope that everyone will be excited to participate in the fun (and educational) things we have planned. It is a real honour to be given this opportunity and we will do our best next year to encourage a love for academia at MSJ!

Arts

The Arts portfolio has been busy planning and brainstorming events and activities to be run for the duration of Term 4 and the beginning of next year. Our main focus is to try and promote all aspects of the Arts, whether that is visual or performance based. We have been working hard to create activities that everyone will be excited to join and to create new and exciting ways to promote the Arts at the College. We are currently in the process of organising a few competitions that combine all aspects of the Arts and a special performance battle that will be announced soon. It is very different from anything that has been done at our College before, and we are excited for everyone to either come along and watch or participate. Look out for these exciting activities towards the middle and end of the term as we want to ensure they are properly organised and perfect.

It is a real honour to have been given this opportunity to organise and promote the Arts at our College. Hopefully we can encourage everyone to participate and get excited about all aspects of the Arts here at MSJ!

Ministry

The Ministry portfolio started by working with the Wellbeing portfolio and Cameron house leaders to organise activities for Socktober. This involved prayers and quizzes in each pastoral group during Morning Pastoral. A mural was created with circles that students wrote positive messages on, so make sure you check it out in the Library stairwell. The main events were be held on the October 31, where we held a ‘Wacky Wednesday’. We encouraged all students to wear the craziest and wacky socks possible and the most outrageous hairstyles and before school our Student Leadership Team cooked up some yummy pancakes. To add some more fun to the day, there was a Club MSJ held at lunchtime.

Also, look out for the new Ministry board (in the senior corridor), for all information about what our Ministry portfolio is working on for the rest of this term and next year!
