Welcome to the Glen Eira College Parents Association in 2020

The Glen Eira College Parents Association welcomes you to our school community in 2020. We are a group of parents and carers who support the school community with events, news, friendships and a little fundraising - All GEC parents and guardians welcome. Our meetings are friendly and informal, and your level of involvement is up to you. I

f you are interested in being involved, want to come to any of our meetings or are not already receiving our emails, please send an email to gecpa@gec.vic.edu.au.

Volunteers (welcome even in a small way). The easiest way to be involved with GECPA is to come to our events, but we especially appreciate those who can volunteer a bit of time.  We know not everyone is able to make a regular commitment, but we also rely on people who turn up just once or more during the year to help out a little. And we also need people to join our committee.

Call for trivia night team and coordinator(s)

GECPA is planning a trivia night in late winter. Previous Trivia nights have been lots of fun and very successful school fundraisers.  We need a few more volunteers to assist planning the night. Please email GECPA if you can help gecpa@gec.vic.edu.au

2nd Hand Uniform Stalls

Thanks to parents who helped with the stall in January and donated uniforms that were very much appreciated by school families. The stall made over $1000 for the school. The next uniform stall will be held next term as the weather changes. Please donate unwanted uniform to the office.

Weekly walk and talk

We have a social walking group which meets once a week to walk and chat for an hour.  We meet on Tuesday evenings (weather permitting) at 7:45pm at the corner of Crosbie and Murrumbeena Roads at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve. So that we can keep in contact, we have set up a messaging group on Whatsapp. To join the group, just email us your name and phone number.  (If you don't already have Whatsapp installed on your smartphone, you will need to do that first -it's very easy to install and to use). send an email to gecpa@gec.vic.edu.au if you want to walk with us.

Human Sign: Call for Victorian Climate

Monash Clayton Sun Feb 16 at 10:30am - 12pm

Want to kick off 2020 with a powerful message for climate action? Then join Friends of the Earth, ACF Bayside BCCAG and others for a human sign at the Monash University Clayton soccer pitch.

The Victorian Govt will soon set Emissions Reduction Targets for the years 2025 and '30. It's the first time a state government will set short- and medium-term targets across the whole economy. With climate impacts occurring much faster than scientists predicted, the litmus test is whether the targets help keep global warming below 1.5°C.

Families, kids, grandkids – all welcome. Register    https://www.actonclimate.org.au/humansign
