Assistant Principal

Congratulations to all of the Year 4 students who were successful in applying for a PLAY Leader position for 2020.  The successful candidates will receive a letter of congratulations today and will be announced at assembly.  I look forward to working with our new leaders over the next 12 months.  Our first meeting will take place on Monday, November 11th and their duties will begin that week.

Thank you to everybody who joined us for the Parent Information Session on ‘Unlocking Child Anxiety and Depression’ last week.  This is the third and final session of the year, all of which were funded by the Rotary Club of Dingley Village.  We would like to acknowledge the Rotary Club for all of the support they provide to our school and look forward to continuing that work through the EarlyAct Club.

Linda Hawkless, Aaron Cox and I attended the Victorian Education Excellence Awards last Friday night in support of Linda who was a finalist in the ‘Outstanding Teacher’ category.  The event was a celebration of the hard work and dedication that Linda has demonstrated over her many years at Kingswood.  Linda’s nomination was written by a team of staff members who recognised Linda’s deep understanding of the development of literacy skills in children, and her remarkable ability to lead professional development, based on research and best practice, through coaching and mentoring.  Linda’s unwavering focus on the students is exemplary.  On behalf of the whole Kingswood community, I would like to thank Linda for everything she does for the students and staff on a daily basis. We are very proud of your achievements, Linda!

November Reading

As we prepare your children to move to new classrooms with new friends and new teachers, we should be mindful that it can be a stressful situation for many.  Please click here to read about how you can support your child whether they are transitioning to a new school or to a new year-level with Kingswood.

Attendance

Parents/carers of all children who have missed more than 10 days over the past 4 terms received a letter over the past week.  The intention of these letters was to inform parents and to offer support, where required.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about your child’s attendance.

We would also like your input in relation to your attitudes towards attendance at school to help assist us as we work towards improving rates of attendance at Kingswood.  Please click here to complete a short snapshot survey that will help in this work.
