Victorian Education Excellent Awards 2019

Congratulations Linda Hawkless on representing Kingswood as a Teacher of the Year finalist in 2019. We had a fabulous night at the Regency Ballroom on Friday 25th October, where 13 awards were presented across the state by the Hon Mr. James Merlino. We are extremely proud of Linda and her work. Regardless of the eventual outcome, Linda was and always will be a winner to Kingswood and everyone she inspires. It was an exceptional night of recognition of the excellent work that is being done in the state education system.

End of Year Fast Approaching

It is an entirely scary thought that the end of year is just around the corner. As Kingswood never sits on our laurels, there will be numerous events between now and the end of year to celebrate our children’s achievements. Please be mindful that teachers do not gear down towards the end of the year but rather gear up. Please make appointments with staff at a mutually agreeable time, if required.

Canberra Camp

An information night for parents was held on Tuesday 29th October by the company that runs the tour. As a first-time camp we will be interested in surveying students and staff about their experience upon their return. Thank you to all parents that participated in the evening. I know from feedback that you walked away with a clear understanding of our new camp. Please remember that first payments are due by the end of next week.

Japanese Day 2019

Japanese Day was held today across the school with great excitement evident on student faces. Students participated in a best dressed competition and bento box competition which were celebrated as a school. Students also did various activities depending on their year level including Manga Drawing, Taiko (Japanese Drumming), Shamisen, Koto, Calligraphy, Japanese Martial Arts and even a Japanese Comedy Show. Thanks to Mr. Teizo Kato for all his hard work in preparing the day and sourcing all of the professionals to run the activities. I am sure your children have some stories from the day.

Melbourne Cup

Monday 4th November, just prior to the Melbourne Cup is a school day. It is not a long weekend. Teaching and learning programs will continue as normal on this day.
