Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Welcome Back!

The time has finally come; WE’RE BACK!

From Monday 12 October, we are excited to welcome back ALL students in ALL year levels to Onsite Learning for Term 4.

This week has provided a wonderful opportunity to not only implement some intensive assessment, but also to have students transition back to school and meet with staff in their Learning Community. It has been so nice seeing so many happy faces, many of whom were eager to stay on for the day! With the learning data obtained from the assessments, we are extremely well positioned to maximise learning opportunities throughout the rest of the term.

Enough has been said and we are all aware how challenging and disruptive this year has been and continues to be, with individuals and families having their personal perspectives of the impact of COVID-19. But now it’s time to focus on the opportunity that is in front of us and ‘get cracking’ with Term 4, with all the academic, social and celebratory opportunities it brings!

As we return, it is important to note that there a number of aspects of school operations that are not yet back to ‘normal’, but generally speaking, the systems, processes and programs will be largely the same as when all students were last onsite at the beginning of Term 3.

Please refer to the Covid-19 Update page below for further information regarding the return to school for all students.

Positive Behaviour Reflection

We are excited to be back and wanted to share students’ success from Term 3!

Our PC4L focus in Term 3 was Collaboration and linked to our Creek Coins, students received 716 Positive Behaviour Reflections, which were emailed home to families.

This term our school focus is on Commitment. Students will be setting personal Commitment goals linked to our Expectation Matrix. Talk to your family about how they can achieve their goals and how to show Commitment at school and in the community.

Keep an eye out for Positive Behaviour Reflection emails sent to families for Creek Coin and Commitment achievements.

Students Survey

WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Student Survey is an annual survey to assist our school in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience.

Students from Year 4 to 10 at our school will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool.  All responses to the survey are kept anonymous to ensure that the confidentiality of your child’s responses is protected at all times.

The Student Survey will be conducted at school over the period Monday, 12 October – Friday, 30th of October. The survey only takes 30 minutes to complete and occurs during your child's class time.

The survey results will be reported back to the school before the end of Term 4. All survey data that is made available in reports are for groups of students only so that no individual student can be identified.

Parent and Carers Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Armstrong Creek School Parent Survey is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform future school planning and improvement strategies.

All responses to the survey are anonymous and will be conducted from Monday 12 October to Friday, 23 October. A link to the survey will be sent out via Compass and takes 10 -15 minutes to complete.

The survey results will be reported back to the school community by the end of the Term 4. We will inform our school community of the results via our weekly newsletter.  Last year we used the survey results to improve parent communication by adding what students have been learning to our weekly newsletters and assembly items and we have also shared with our community the work student do around our School Values.

We hope that as many families as possible complete the survey.

Solar Buddy

Students and teachers are very excited, our Solar Buddies have arrived and are ready to assemble!

So save the date and get excited, because on Thursday 22 October, students will collaboratively be constructing panels, making art replicas and writing letters to their buddies.

Again we want to thank the community for your support and encourage you to keep an eye out for photos in the newsletter and the local paper from the day.

Lunch Orders

Lunch Orders will be available to order for Friday lunchtime beginning week 2 of Term 4.

Please refer to the Lunch Order page below for further information and how to order.

Hats

A reminder that students are required to wear a hat at recess and lunch play and during all outside activities in Term 4.

Please ensure your child's hat is clearly labelled with their name.

Have a great weekend!
