Eisteddfod results

Over the last few weeks, the City of Orange Eisteddfod has been running individual dance, speech and drama and instrumental classes.  We have been delighted to hear that many of our performing arts students have been taking part. Not only is it useful to have a goal to work towards, but it also helps with exam preparation for later in the year and the more live performances young people can take part in, the easier it is to get a handle on those pesky performance nerves!

Congratulations to our speech and drama students; some wonderful results.

Year 1 Strings Program

The Term 3 program has now concluded. Our students played enthusiastically to their peers last week and showed them the fantastic progress they have made. Please see the video below of both the violin and cello classes. Mrs Moxey and Mrs McRae have been delighted with the progress that all the students have made.

If you wish to enrol your child for private tuition in Term 4, please fill out the form which was attached to the email sent last week. Please ensure forms are returned to school by the THURSDAY this week.  The remaining students in Year 1 that have not been involved in the string program yet will receive further details at the beginning of next term.

Instrumental performances – Week 10

In a bid to give our students an opportunity to perform this term, we ran our class concerts this week. These informal concerts give our music and speech and drama students an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. It was fabulous to see how many of our students took up this opportunity. From students who have only been learning a few short weeks, to those who have been learning for 6 years or more, they all rose to the challenge. All students should be congratulated on putting in the practice, remembering instruments and music, conquering those performance nerves and performing so well. I would also like to acknowledge all our tutors in preparing their students and parents for their ongoing support. We are all very much looking forward to welcoming our parents back to school to enjoy the wealth of talent we have in our performing arts program, but until then, please enjoy the photos taken during the performances on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Kindy Music and Movement

Students in Kindergarten have been developing their listening and movement skills with Mrs McRae over the last few weeks working on perfecting a fabulous performance complete with oobie eyes! This is their performance from assembly last week.

Choir – Not Choir

In the absence of being able to sing in choir this term, we have had to do some creative thinking! 1-2 and 3-4 Choirs have been learning some Auslan (Australian Sign Language) as a way of communicating. We have been fortunate to have the expertise of Mrs Megan Price who, as an audiologist, has been able to share her knowledge of the language with us. The children have been fascinated to learn the different signs and understand the importance of facial expression in communicating clearly with the hearing impaired.

1-2 Choir have been learning I Can Sing A Rainbow and 3-4 have been learning The Best Day of My Life by the American Authors.

1-2 can be seen in the video below rehearsing their signing.

3-4 will perfect their performance and this will be shared via video next term. Watch this space! In the meantime, please enjoy some picture of them rehearsing with Mrs Price this week.

5-6 Choir have been working hard on their body percussion performance of Believe by Imagine Dragons. We will be sharing a video of this performance ASAP.

It’s a girl!

Congratulations to violin tutor Emily Thorburn on the birth of her daughter last week! We are delighted for the family and look forward to meeting the new addition soon.
