Greetings to all families at Kinross Wolaroi

Philippians 2:1-11 is a passage in which early church leader Paul encourages members in the young Christian community in Philippi to live together harmoniously even amidst their differences. He encourages them not to act from selfish ambition or conceit, but to put the interests of others first acting from a place of humility.

Paul supports his argument by quoting one of the earliest songs or professions of faith used within Christian worship - often known as the “Christ Hymn.” Written ten to twenty years after Jesus’s death and resurrection, this hymn tells the story of ‘God with us.’ It narrates how Jesus, who had all the attributes of the divine, chose to be humbly present in this world in human form, so that he could redeem and reconcile us to God by entering into humanity’s own despair and brokenness, and thus transform us.

Paul encourages the readers of his letter to serve and love one another in the same manner, taking on the “same mind” that was in Christ Jesus.

This is a radical ethic.

This is also a profound act of service and courage; and a profound story of a Love that saves.

I pray you have a restful holiday with good times amidst family and friends.

Blessings to all.
