Japanese Department

Year 10 Extension Japanese students used one of their classes to complete a Japanese cooking challenge. Students researched Japanese dishes and prepared the ingredients and recipes. They made mouth-watering dishes such as sushi, karaage, okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancakes) and mochi. 

 

They all had a great time with a little help from their families and their creations look fabulous.

 

Here are some comments from students.

 

I made sushi and karaage fried chicken. I have made sushi before, but it was my first time making karaage chicken. It was easy and very delicious. But I had to buy most of the ingredients at the Asian Grocery beforehand.

 

I made edamame, it was fun to make. They turned out a little bit soggy though, but they were yum.

 

I made dorayaki as my Japanese dish, it was really fun and easy to make.
