From the Acting Head

For me, it is with a strange blend of emotions that Term 3 finishes today.

While there have been some positive outcomes from remote learning, the overwhelming feeling from students, staff and parents is that respite from teaching and learning from home is most welcome, and a return to the classroom next Term is blessed relief.

I am immensely proud of how our community has muscled, muddled and made our way through nearly two Terms of remote learning, and it is with a small degree of melancholy, therefore, that today is my final day as Acting Head.

I have loved every moment of being a part of the Girton community through this extraordinary year, but equally, there are many projects that I look forward to resuming when I return to my substantive position of Deputy Head.

For those interested, my end of Term address to students, titled 18th September – End of Term Virtual Assembly, as well as my end of Term address to parents and carers, titled From the Acting Head: end of Term address to the Girton community, can be accessed here: https://astra.girton.vic.edu.au/homepage/18274

And I will be speaking to my incredible colleagues, to whom all the credit is owed for a fine year of work, live via Zoom at the time this edition of eLink publishes.

With COVID-19 restrictions lifted somewhat this week for Regional Victorians, I wish all of you a very happy holiday. I have reminded students to savour the liberties that they have been granted in time for these holidays and to continue to be grateful for all that they have.

With my deepest thanks for your support.
