Principal's Report

It has been a joy having classrooms full of students throughout this term and being able to once again provide event opportunities for children. Speaking of events, we are looking forward to our sports days as highlights of this week and definitely hoping for a continuation of today’s fantastic weather.
Thank you to our wonderful community for their continued support this term, particularly to our P&C for their innovative work providing opportunities for parents and carers to socialise. While it has been necessary to limit adult access to the school grounds due to COVID-19, we have missed the incidental social opportunities that drop off and pick up provided to many parents and carers. Our P&C’s Tally Together Workshops are off to a great start and offer a way for adult members of our community to stay connected.
Performing Arts Events
This week we will have our first ever Tallebudgera State School Online Music Concert. We are very excited to be sharing student performances with our community in this way.
Next term, our extra-curricular dance teams will have performances recorded and this will be shared with their parents and carers as a virtual dance concert. We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to our students.
Waste to Wonderful – In Garden Composting System
Next term, we will be rolling out a composting system across the school. Thanks to the generous support of the P&C, we have been able to install composting systems near all eating areas to allow students to directly place their fruit and vegetable scraps into the compost containers. This idea was initiated by two of our wonderful parents, Leah and Amanda, so a big thank you them!
Thanks to Scott Edwards from Wilmat Projects for volunteering his time to assist Scotty (our grounds/facilities officer) with construction of our new garden beds. A big shout out also goes to Scotty for his hard work and enthusiastically agreeing to more hedging and gardens, knowing that this is great for our students.
Parking
For the safety of our students and community, please only park legally in the school zone. Our Drop and Go zone operates to allow parents and carers to safely drop their children at school as there is limited parking.
Staffing Update
This term, we farewell two of our wonderful staff members. Jo Rogers, one of our Music teachers is moving to the Sunshine Coast. Jo has put her heart and expertise into the work that she has done sharing the love of Music with our students.
Therese Dixon, our Business Manager, has been a part of Team Tally for over 20 years and has seen many changes at Tallebudgera State School throughout the years. She has contributed significantly to the success of Tallebudgera State School through her work as our Business Manager. Regional Office has relocated Therese to another school from next term and she is embracing this as an opportunity to contribute to the success of another school.
Thank you to Jo and Therese for their contribution to our school. We will miss them and wish them both all the very best for the next chapters in their professional lives.
Congratulations to Jodi Sleaford who has been appointed as our Acting Business Manager next term and Leah Horne who joins our team as a Music teacher.
Andrew Burgess is on leave for three school weeks (i.e. this week and the first two weeks of next term) and is replaced by Luke Wharton during that time.
Wishing all Tallebudgera State School families a very safe and joy-filled holiday! I look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday, 6 October 2020 (Monday, 5 October is a public holiday).
Kind regards
