Kinder Photos

Please remember that this Thursday is the last day that Kinder photos can be ordered online.

Dickins Room

We had another great week with our Wimbi and Marram classes. We have been busy exploring space with the children, representing our learning through art and engaging in inquiry based questions to discover more information. These topics have lead to the children wanting to understand how astronaughts eat, sleep and drink in space.

We participated in drama with the Wimbi children, acting out the great big enourmous turnip with the class. The children really enjoyed getting outside this week also, playing co-operatively with the balls, cooking in the sand pit and making 'cubby houses' with the large blocks.

Thursday saw us engage in science, using force to create art works with a salad spinner. The children adored the process and demonstrated some amazing patience and self regulation skills. We also had our exchange bear, Freddy, come and visit. He spent some time with Charlotte and her family, visiting a cafe and the airport with them. Freddy will visit all of our three year old families over the course of the term.

Our Marram class visited the garden this week, noticing that the trees are about to bud and becoming curious and fasinated with the insect life they found.

We spent time playing group games, such as charades and punchenello, represented our learning about art with a whole group drawing experience and used the glow paint and spray bottles outside on fabric.

We are looking forward to another fantastic week at Kinder.

Moore Room

We have had a busy and productive week in the Moore room. After reading some books and looking at art work from Aboriginal artists we have used some old c.d.’s to explore our interpretations of the various styles of work. This has enabled us to explore culture and tradition of our first people through an art medium as well as responding in positive ways to people’s similarities and differences.

After a lot of the children have been really exploring their senses through paints, sandpit, pebble pit and play-dough we added another element – jelly. Julie made some coloured jelly (not edible) squares and the children delved into squishing, mixing and exploring the texture using fine and gross motor skills. Sensory play builds nerve connections in the developing brain’s neural pathways which supports children in learning more complex learning tasks as well as being a calming experience for any anxiety or frustrations. Other areas to support our senses has been the play-dough area with lots of cooking and the outdoors using the obstacle course and fun using the tunnel to explore our bodies depth and capacity.

We have also been enjoying some songs leading up to this Friday afternoons disco. We have been using a youtube – ‘go noodle’ variety including; D-I-S-C-O, the chicken dance and the Macarena. We look forward to having a boogie (dance) with our kinder children and hope to see you all there. There is a $3 entry fee to cover costs of the afternoon, rainbow theme and is from 5 – 5.30pm August 2nd. Parents/caregivers must stay for the duration of the event.

Have a fabulous week!
