Parents & Friends (PFA)

A reflection on 2019

As the PFA Co-Presidents of 2018/19 we are so happy with our teams' efforts over the past two years.  We could not have managed such a successful two years without our dedicated and generous core Committee consisting of Scott (Treasurer); Luci (Secretary); Greg (Maintenance); and Margaret (Principal) and Peta (Deputy Principal).  We thank you all for your time, commitment and for following our aim to enhance the St Anthony’s School community and facilities for our children and our St Anthony's Family.

We would also like to thank the past Presidents Liz Martello and Jacinta Hamilton for their extensive handover and for their support during our time as Presidents.

We would also like to thank the wonderful class liaisons who worked ever so tirelessly on everything we threw at them.   Thank you to  Jo Jeans, Simone Mitchell, Kim Davie, Ali Clohesy,  Sharon Stewart, Justine Guy, Michelle Kelly, Lina O’Byrne, Donna Paatsch, and Megan Affinita.  You have been an amazing support to the Committee and we are very grateful for your hard work and dedication.

Although we have enjoyed our time on the Committee, we are very pleased to pass on the reigns to our new Presidents Troy Fryer and Scott Sinclair.  We hope that you as a community will show them the same support and commitment that you showed us during our time.

Finally we would like to make special mention of Kathy Sansalone for her unwavering patience and support to us personally and for the contribution Kathy makes to the smooth running of our school events and fundraising activities.

What we did in 2019

School Fair

In March 2019 we held our biennial School Fair.  Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side, however despite this we managed to raise a whopping $24,146. Thank you to all the families involved, who all came together in the absence of a Fair Co-ordinator.  It all worked and another amazing day was had by all.

Election Day BBQ & Cake Stall

Also in March 2019 our school was lucky enough to be a designated voting station for the Federal Election.  We took this as an opportunity to hold a sausage sizzle and cake stall and raised just over  $2,300.  The school community was wonderful in volunteering their time, produce and baked goods.

Bi Annual Art Soiree

In October we held the biennial Art Soiree.  The PFA was responsible for the raffle and catering on the night which included drinks and nibbles.  The night was another great success and raised approximately $3000.

Working Bee

We facilitated two Working Bees to improve our school grounds.  Greg Stewart liaised with Margaret Carlei on the priorities and we encouraged all families to participate in at least one of these days.

Family Social Nights

The Family Social Night was a Spooky Kids Disco and was held in the Padua Pavilion.  We employed the services once again of “Kids Disco” which ensured the night was a great success. On the night we sold Hot Dogs and soft drinks and managed to raise approximately $1,000.

Friday Cake Raffle

The tradition of the Friday Cake Raffle remains popular amongst our children (and parents!)  A big thank you to Sarah Gerrand who organises the roster each week to ensure there is a cake to sell each Friday. This tradition usually raises approximately $1,000 each year to purchase new library books for our children.  It is a really important initiative which we hope to continue in the years to come.

Miscellaneous Activities

Some of the other activities undertaken by the PFA in 2019 include: -

  • Welcome on the Green
  • Mother’s Day Stall
  • Father’s Day Stall
  • Icy Poles (Terms 1 & 4)
  • Footy Tipping
  • Ladies Winery Tour
  • Dad’s Days Out
  • Parent Trivia Night
  • Christmas Carols on the Green

We have proudly handed over a cheque to the amount of $35,000.00 for our fundraising contribution this year.  congratulations to all those who helped.

We were proud to contribute to the resurfacing of the synthetic turf on the green area.  The area looks fresh and the children are really enjoying the new running track.
