Christmas Carols and The Nativity Play

O What a Night!

The Christmas Carols and The Nativity Play were truly divine.  The night of Wednesday the 4th December, 2019 was a memorable event with the Foundation students performing 'The Greatest Story Ever Told - the Birth of Jesus Christ', while all the school students sang Christmas Carols in St Anthony's Church.  This was followed by Christmas fun songs wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.  The school community continued celebrations and good cheer on The Green.  The parents were delighted with the change of format and here are a few of the many positive comments:-

“ I loved the new format, the church is a nice place to have it”  Year 4 parent
“ We liked that way the students were singing in their classes.  The church was filled with beautiful music and singing."  “We loved it, we loved it” Year 3/4 parents
“Everyone could be heard and seen in the church, the singing was lovely.”  Foundation parent
“It was great that it was in the church at this time so the grandparent could come from the peninsula to see it, thankyou.” Foundation parent
“The preps were so cute and great performing the play.  Thank you for letting us sit in the front rows to see them.  Thankyou.” Foundation parents

St Vinnies Christmas Appeal Success

Our families of the St Anthony's school community gave generously to the St Vinnies Christmas Appeal this year as they have in previous years.  We have collected:

Packet  and canned foods  = 164

Cleaning Products  = 68

Toiletries  = 56

Total products for hampers  = 288 items

Thanks to those who donated these gifts of food, cleaning products and toiletries to go towards Christmas hampers to be distributed to the families who need our help during the Christmas period.  One of The Catholic Social Teachings of the Church is called 'Preferential Option for the Poor' which is teaching us that we, like Jesus, should care for those who are less fortunate than ourselves, and when giving you are receiving.  It is symbol of generosity that shows are Christian spirit and we thank you for giving from your hearts.  Ellen from the St Vincent de Paul Society would also like to send her thanks and wishes all at St Anthony's a Merry Christmas.

Christmas Wishes

It has been a year for making memories.  The Religious Education program at St Anthony's has included: Lent, Easter, First Reconciliation, Confirmation, Retreat Days, Prayer's in PJs and Family Faith Nights, Father Pritchard's class visits, Reconciliation, Masses on Fridays, Advent Liturgies, Carols and Nativity play, the End of Year Mass and Lantern ceremony.

To end a tremendous year, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all a Merry Christmas and Safe New Year.  2020 is a new year and a new beginning for the twenties. This is a time for new life and it is marked by the birth of Jesus.
