Principal's Page

Dear Families,

It's beginning to look and feel a bit like Christmas with only two and a half more weeks left of this school year. We gathered as a whole school on Monday morning to celebrate the start of the church's season of Advent. Advent is a season of waiting and preparing for Christmas.

Multicultural Day

It was wonderful to see the excitement and pride with which students shared their family's culture of origin. It is important to acknowledge and celebrate diversity. We learn a lot about ourselves and others by exploring differences. We strive to ensure St Joseph's is a welcoming community for all.

Michael Carr-Gregg

We are extremely fortunate to have Michael Carr-Gregg speaking on raising, happy resilient young people. He has a wealth of parenting experience and wisdom to share with us. I have listened to him several times and always find him inspiring. This event is on tomorrow afternoon at 5:00pm at the Sorrento Community Centre. It is a free event that normally would have a cost involved. Attendees have been asked to book on 5984 3360 or https://www.revolutionise.com.au/sorrentocc/events/164830/

Carols

Our Carols Evening will be held next Wednesday 7 December at 5:30pm. Families are invited to bring along a picnic, chairs or a picnic blanket. There is to be NO ALCOHOL please. Students have been asked to wear Christmas colours unless they have a specific costume. It is sure to be a wonderful end of year community celebration.

End of Year Mass

We will be gathering as a whole school community to celebrate our wonderful year together  on Tuesday 13 December at 9:15am. Parents are most welcome to attend.

Parent Helpers and Volunteers Thank You Morning Tea

We appreciate the assistance we receive from our parents and local community andwould like to show our gratitude by hosting a morning tea tomorrow in the hall at 9:15am. Please join us if you are available.

2023 Fete

The Community Fete will be taking place next year on 25 March. Plans are already underway for this wonderful community day that raises funds for the swimming pool we share with Sorrento Primary School. An Operoo will be sent out later in the week to both schools' families  communicating how people can contribute and be involved.

Christmas Eve Children's Mass

The 6:30pm Christmas Eve Mass at St Mary's Star of the Sea Parish is a special children's Mass. Students of St Joseph's are invited to dress up in Christmas costumes such as angels, shepherds, wise men etc. and participate in an entrance procession and/or joining the choir. Mrs Jenny Todd will be coordinating this and will send out an invitation shortly.

Enjoy your week,

Monica
