Principal's Report
Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2022
Another fabulous fortnight has been had at Rangeview. We have had Level 1 / 2 Soccer Clinics, a Public Speaking Competition, Level 6 Life Education Incursion, Remembrance Day, Level 2 Mad About Science Incursion, Level 4 Pollywoodside & Immigration Museum Excursion, a Junior House Athletics Carnival, and our incredible Rangeview Fair. Our students have been working in classrooms to maximize their learning for Term 4 with assessments in all areas of the curriculum taking place, to ensure our teachers can report accurately on their progress in our end of year Portfolios and Reports. I will certainly be ready for the holidays when they come and I am sure that our students will be also.
We are so proud of our amazing students that represented Rangeview PS at Mount Pleasant Road Primary School Public Speaking Competition on Tuesday 8th November. Our children spoke clearly, passionately, and with humility.
A huge well done to:
Aayush from FK
Ying She from 2K
Nina from 4T
Kirsten from 56T
On Sunday 13th November the Parents and Friends Committee ran a spectacular Fair for Rangeview – the first in 4 years! It was a hugely successful day with the weather holding despite grim forecasts. The student market stalls were a highlight with clear student involvement for our 5/6 students and we will plan to include this in fairs to come. The community feel was further heightened by the inclusion of the local sporting clubs providing free activities for attendees. The Raffle was also a huge success thanks to the generosity of the community and the hard work of the committee.
Funds raised will go towards projects around the school – such as a built in BBQ on the Library Deck, a new Bike Shed and a Junior Basketball court. All to be discussed with Parents and Friends.
The school thanks Saskia Desilla, Emma Rankin, Laura Warren, Rebecca Peers and the whole P&F Committee. It was a huge job.
The School Staff Survey (SSS) is conducted annually and is an opportunity for staff employed in Victorian government schools to provide feedback on factors of the school environment proven by research to have an effect on student outcomes. All staff members, including teaching and non-teaching staff, full and part-time, have the opportunity to participate if they have been working in the school the month prior to the survey. This year 46 staff participated which is 65% of staff.
Our results were extremely positive in almost all areas and were often stronger than 'Like Schools' which are schools matched to Rangeview on size and population demographics.
Some stand out results included our school leadership's Flexibility and Cultural Leadership, Leading Change, and Visibility. All of these factors were significantly higher than like schools. Parent Involvement was also an incredibly high result with 91% positive endorsement. Staff Professional and Psychological Safety and Staff Consultation were also extremely high.
Some areas identified for the school to work on included, the school leadership being more directly involved in instructional activities in classrooms, students seeking more work to improve results, and more in depth follow up on the results of new programs.
We are very proud of these results and look forward to further improvements in 2023.
We had over 100 families complete the follow up survey for the potential Canteen / Lunch Order option for Rangeview PS. The results were overwhelmingly positive.
The written response feedback was supportive of trialing this option with a few families asking about hot food options. We have reached out to Classroom Cuisine and they are unfortunately not able to include hot food. This is due to the huge number of orders they cater each day and the need to ensure food safety and temperature requirements on delivery.
We will investigate this option for Rangeview in the near future.....
Rangeview was successful in achieving a Grant for a new playground to be installed on the banks of our school oval. This will develop this space and open up more play area for our students. Works for this new playground began this week and will complete ready for use in Term 1, 2023.
